Nannearl Brown

Researcher at Figma | Host of Unpacked Angles

Nannearl is a Researcher at Figma who journeyed into the field by way of systems engineering and social impact. She cares greatly about creating a shared understanding of the tech industry with all, most especially with Black people and other marginalized groups. Nannearl has shared her knowledge by leading UX workshops, serving as a design educator for online design bootcamps, and via her YouTube channel, Unpacked Angles. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Virginia in Engineering Science and Systems Engineering (respectively) in addition to a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Southern California with a focus in social entrepreneurship. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and in her spare time, she enjoys creative projects, learning how to play the violin, and volunteering for Black Girls Code.

Everything is not fine (and that's okay)

There’s so much going on all around us and it has been that way for over a year now. Nothing we’ve experienced is “normal times” or “business as usual” and I think it’s about time that we admit that, if we haven’t already, especially at work.
