Redesigning BBC.com: crafting a connected, contextual, and global experience

BBC Studios and UIC Digital recently embarked on an ambitious task; rebranding, redesigning and replatforming BBC.com for users outside of the UK. The primary goal was to create a more connected, contextual, and frictionless experience for a global audience numbering in the hundreds of millions.

This talk will delve into the design journey undertaken in the transformation of the BBC.com website and app. Laura and Sam will share some of the real-world challenges that come with the redesign of a world-renowned platform

He leads 35 product designers, creating exceptional digital experiences. One and a half years ago, at Decathlon, an international sports retailer, he expanded the design team from 20 to 120, a notable achievement in France, enhancing global experience development.

Myriam El Harraq

With more than 15 years of experience in the digital field, Myriam began her career in a digital communication agency before working in the telecom industry, focusing on digitizing customer relations and e-commerce. Then, she shifted towards the travel sector, dealing with innovation, customer experience, and voice of the customer issues. Today, Myriam manages over 80 experts in these areas, with a constant focus on customer demands and business impact.

Taking flight: lessons learned on adopting Figma at United

United Airlines partnered with Signature Service Partner One North to migrate its ORION design system to Figma during a rebrand—creating a living, breathing, universal source of truth for its designers and developers. United Airlines’ Above the Wing and Below the Wing product teams are making the most of Figma—from creating digital airport signage to the implementation and adoption of their ORION design system across a suite of products.

Outside of work, she is a mom of 3, hot sauce connoisseur, and avid Michigan Wolverines fan.
